Aphasic syndrome: 

Human language is the final result of a group of brain activities directed towards the reception, integration and elaboration of linguistic messages.
The disorganization of these activities following brain damage brings about a new linguistic functional level which constitutes the aphasic syndrome.

Alzheimer: 

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases, including Alzheimer's disease
They might have difficulties with:

  • Language
  • Visuospatial skills 
  • Concentrating, planning or organizing 

Voice Disorder:

A voice disorder can be defined as a problem involving abnormal pitch, loudness or quality of the sound produced by the larynx, more commonly known as the voice box.Voice disorders may be caused by different factors, events, physical ailments and diseases.


TEA: 

These disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors. They have difficulties in motor coordination and attention and physical health issues such as sleep and gastrointestinal disturbances.


Dislalia: 

The child with dislalia omits certain sounds, or replaced by other incorrectly; for example, says apo or tapo, instead of toad. Often, it is able to correctly pronounce the syllables separately (sa) but uniting the phonemes, makes mistakes. This makes their language can sometimes be unintelligible.

Diglossia: 

Are said to be organic when faults in pronunciation are associated with certain defects of the organs involved in speech. They are classified according to the defective area:

Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Carmen Olmos, I’m 29 years old, I’m married, but I haven’t  children,  I live in Sedaví, it’s a small town of  Valencia.

In this blog I’m going to speak  about something of my vocational job and my life.

I’m Speech therapist, I have an office where  I work with four professional of education too, in this moment  I’m learning English because I’m teacher too, and I would like work in a school in the future.

In the first part of this blog , I’m going to speak about my job, anecdotes, websites and differents  materials that you can use  if you think they are interesting, and I’m going to explain differents working techniques and pathologies of my job.

In the other hand, I’m going to speak about my life, my best teacher, and finally I’m going to explain differents experiences of my job.

Hello Blog readers!

This is my third post in my blog, and my last post card,  in this occasion I’m going to talk to my profession, I’m speech therapist.

First, I’m going to explained what is speak therapy, we don’t work only with kids for speak better or for improve their pronunciation, or say the phoneme RR the best.

We work with kids and adult, we can work with some pathology of communication, voice and language.

Some pathology that we can work are: 
 
·        Aphasic syndrome
·        Alzheimer
·        TEA: Autism spectrum disorder.
·        Voce disorder
·        Phoneme disorder o Dyslalia.
·        Disglossia
·         Stammering
·        Others…


Secondly, In this moment I have an office where I work with four partners, two speech therapist, one psychologist, and one physiotherapist, the office name it’s Som Capaços, it’s in Sedaví. His website is www.somcapasos.com


Finally, I love my job because I can help my patients in their life, I can improve their situation and the situation of their family. I think that after some weeks you are part of their life o family, and also they are part of you forever. You help them, but also they help you.

So, this job is heavy but also it’s rewarding for me.
